Personal updates

  • Check out the live blog (now closed) of the 2012 Presidential and State elections! I helped out by visiting polling places and reporting live from the Republican State Party.
  • We're all counting down to Election Day for our own reasons. Some of us want the campaigning to end, some of us are chomping at the bit to cast our votes and some of us want our TVs back from political ads and commentators. Well, I'm counting down because of what I get to do that day. I plan on voting sometime this week, (after I finally finish researching judges - vote informed!) so that's not my reason. Rather, I got my assignment from the Record yesterday at a fun little meeting at The Morning Times. Anyway, my assignment is to hang out at the GOP party and report from the field. How awesome! I'm getting all smiley just thinking about it. It's things like this that make me realize that journalism is what I should be doing. It's inspiring to move forward and keep working as hard as I can, because it will pay off in a big way.
  • Raleighites! If you're planning on voting early, check out the voter guide put together by the Raleigh Public Record. I contributed articles about Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor candidates Bill Cole and Pat Lawson, as well as the candidates for NC State Senate District 15, Sig Hutchinson and Neal Hunt. Regardless of your party or political affiliation, please vote informed!
  • If you read my about page, you know I've graduated from college and am now working two part-time jobs not in the journalism field. Ideal? No. But are they paying jobs where I get to be somewhat creative? Heck yeah. One of them is actually an internship with CONDUIT Health Communications and AtticMaxx, LLC. I've been doing PR and analytics there and a post I wrote (and some other content I helped direct) is up on the AtticMaxx blog right now! Check it out!
